Microblogging is new to me. I have never had a twitter account until now but I feel that it can be a great tool for education/athletics. Social media is huge in delivering news to people and twitter is no exception. I always see on TV people tweeting each other (athletes to other athletes) or news being delivered through tweets. I use facebook to learn about current events and news and sports because usually they pop up on the news feed. They inform me of what is going on/ what happened in sports. I also read articles on the latest trends and science so I can keep up with current events. I am hoping I can learn how to use twitter like I know how facebook works. There will be a learning curve to understand it but after a lot of practice, Im sure i will get it!
Microblogging is fairly new to me as well, even though I have had a twitter account for a little over two years. I have had the account and deactivated and reactivated it a couple of times and did not do much posting myself, but used it more as a tool to follow other’s news feeds. Twitter is everywhere in the media and I usually cannot go an hour of watching television without hearing of someone’s tweet or sit through ten minutes of a sporting event without twitter being mentioned or a hashtag being encouraged. The thought of joining in with these tweets is a tad overwhelming but I am looking forwards to the attempt! I also am eager to see the doors this will open on an educational basis and think it is a great opportunity to expand our normalcies to explore new avenues.

I had never heard the term "microblogging" before our class, but it does make sense. I have used facebook in the past to get updates on upcoming news and events, but twitter is a whole new ball game. I am interested to learn more about how to use it professionally for our careers. Hashtagging has been a joke with some friends in the past, but it will be fun to try new things and branch out into the twitter world. I too am interested to see what this has to offer educationally!
A few years ago I created a Facebook fan page to communicate scores and highlights with my student athletes. I really thought I was ahead of the game and was on-trend with the teenagers. Unfortunately times have changed quickly and I realize now that not as many students are on Facebook as I had assumed. Microblogging through twitter is relatively new for me but I'm realizing that I have a much broader audience within my community. I'm not completely confident with the process yet but I look forward to using it and learning as much as possible.
